Russ Gibson’s law enforcement career began nearly 40 years ago.  He started working for the Brookfield Township Police Department in Ohio before moving to Osceola County to join the Sheriff’s Office. He has extensive experience in multiple areas of the Sheriff’s Office.  This includes spending time as a Detective, Sergeant, Field Training Officer, and in many other roles and divisions over the course of his career. He most recently held the honor of being elected and leading the Osceola County Sheriff Office as your Sheriff from 2017-2020. Russ’ desire to work toward creating a just and safe community has been a lifelong mission since he first called Osceola County home in 1986. He hopes to continue to serve the county as Sheriff again beginning in 2024.

Russ' Family

Russ and Scarlet have been happily married for over 26 years. He has a son, Russell, two daughters, Rachel and Jennifer, and 3 granddaughters.  We also can’t forget about his dog Marley!

Family and community mean the world to Russ. He takes the time to be a leader at home and reciprocates that within the community as well.

Russ' Hobbies

With a passion for barbecue, Russ loves to have his family and friends taste test as he perfects his recipes. Everyone is always happy to oblige him!  It’s delicious!

Music flowing through his veins, he’s often caught singing, whether he is driving around Osceola County, enjoying morning coffee with his wife, Scarlet, or cooking up breakfast on a Sunday morning.

Community Strong

Russ believes that we all have a duty to protect and care for our more vulnerable communities. He has been volunteering on the Osceola Council on Aging for many years. He regularly participates with the Meals on Wheels program as well.  Join Russ on his volunteer efforts as the community would truly appreciate it!
